Smith reaches incredible cricket record

This series might be all about Khawaja from a batting perspective, but his champion teammate Steve Smith wasn’t about to let him steal all the spotlight. Smith became the fastest player in Test history to reach 8000 career runs on Thursday.

Bold declaration sets up tantalising final day

Usman Khawaja wrapped up his fairytale tour of Pakistan with another magnificent hundred and a series average of 165.33 to treasure forever before Pat Cummins dangled a big carrot in front of Pakistan by setting the home side 351 runs to win from 121 overs ahead of a tantalising final day in the third Test.

With Australia failing to make a breakthrough during 27 overs before stumps, Pakistan now require 278 runs from 90 overs on a low and slow day five pitch in Lahore with 10 wickets in the bank to seal an improbable win. Click here to read more.

Khawaja and Pakistan: a man meeting his moment

For most of the past three years, a Test match recall for Usman Khawaja and a full Australian men’s tour of Pakistan each sat at a similarly remote level of probability.

To watch Khawaja dominate for Australia in the land of his birth, surpassing all but Mark Taylor in terms of runs scored in a series in Pakistan, was to see a serendipity at work in the most rewarding of ways. It had all seemed so unlikely. Click here to read more.

Khawaja notches fourth Test ton of 2022

Usman Khawaja is going to take some beating for man of the series honours.

The Australian opener scored yet another century on day four of the third Test against Pakistan.

He has now hit 496 runs for the series at 165.33 including two centuries and two fifties.

As it stands, he has scored 270 more runs the next best Steve Smith (226).

In all he has hit four centuries since being recalled for the latter part of the Ashes series in what has been a dream comeback for him.

Buckle up, a wild finish surely awaits

Fourteen days of tough and grinding cricket down, 90 tantalising overs to come.

That’s right, we might just get a grandstand finish in this historic series.

In Lahore, Tom Decent and Adam Collins review the day four action and dream big about what might be possible if this does go the distance.

Greetings, everybody

Hello everyone and welcome to our rolling coverage of the fifth day of the third and final Test between Pakistan and Australia from Lahore.

With this gripping three-Test series tied at 0-0, it is going right down to the wire today with all three results from both a match and series perspective still well and truly on the table.

Pakistan are chasing 351 for victory, and at 0-73 at stumps on day four, need another 278 runs with all 10 wickets in hand.

Imam-ul-Haq (42) and Abdullah Shafique (27) are the not-out batsmen.

Australia have already used six bowlers in 27 overs so far in this second innings.

And while the hosts might seem like they are well-placed to achieve the win, don’t forget they lost 8-54 in the first innings as Pat Cummins (5-56) and Mitchell Starc (4-33) wreaked havoc.

It promises to be a thrilling climax to this enthralling and historic Test series in Pakistan.
