UFC fan favourite Nick Diaz described boxer Tyson Fury as the ‘last of a dying breed’ after training with him ahead of Fury’s highly anticipated fight against Anthony Joshua.

It was revealed on Sunday that the undefeated heavyweight, 32, will face fellow Brit Joshua in Saudi Arabia on August 14 in a unification bout with Fury’s WBC belt and Joshua’s WBA, WBO and IBF belts on the line.

And Diaz – brother of UFC star Nate – hailed the Gypsy King on social media and shared pictures of their sparring in Miami, Florida.

The caption on his tweet read: ‘Last of a dying breed.. real fighting men only a few can relate. My bro @Tyson_Fury,’ followed by a fist and a 100 per cent emoji.

Diaz, 37, has not been in the octagon since January 2015 but is keen on a return, with Fury urging UFC president Dana White to set up a bout for the Stockton fighter.

Fury told his Instagram followers on Friday: ‘I’m here with my boy – Nick “The Badman” Diaz. We’re working hard. We’re coming for all you motherf******* out there. You’re getting smashed to f****. You better believe it.

‘He’s in the gym with the Gypsy King. He’s absolutely smashing it. He’s in tremendous shape. Make the fight Dana. Make the fight.’

However, White responded to ESPN: ‘My whole thing with Nick Diaz is I just question how bad he really wants to fight. We got together, we had a great conversation, talked about a possible comeback for him, I just don’t know.

‘We’ll see how it plays out this summer and the rest of this year. It’s just the amount of time that he’s taken off already. Nick Diaz has done it all, seen it all. He’s been in big fights. I just don’t see that in him when I talk to him.’
