Tyson Fury warns Tommy Fury not to be complacent against Jake Paul

‘He can’t just go to the ice cream parlour and not train’: Tyson Fury warns Tommy Fury not to be complacent against ‘decent boxer’ Jake Paul…as the world champion says his brother should face Logan Paul or KSI after next month’s clash

Tyson Fury has warned his brother Tommy not to take Jake Paul lightly when the pair finally meet in Saudi Arabia next month.

It will be the third time a scheduled match between the pair has tried to take place, as the 23-year-old competes in his first eight-round bout at 185lbs.

Yet, despite boasting an unbeaten record between the ropes so far in his career, older brother Tyson believes Fury cannot be complacent against social media personality Paul.

Jake Paul and Tommy Fury will meet next month in Saudi Arabia, the third time the bout has been scheduled to take place

‘I think he’s a decent boxer. A lot of people think he’s just a YouTube person who doesn’t know how to box but I’ve actually seen him training and I’ve actually seen his fights and I think he’s decent.’ Fury told Sky Sports News

‘He’s like a novice professional. He’s only had six fights so he’s exactly as good as he should be at this stage. He’s not an Olympic boxer but then again neither am I.

‘He can’t just go to the ice cream parlour and not train. He’s got to really focus and have the right sparring and everything. He’s got to take it really seriously.

Tyson Fury has called Paul a ‘decent boxer’ and warned his brother against complancency

He’s got to do the job when he’s in there because it’s not just the opponent. If you take the opponent out of the equation,’ he continued. ‘There’s big pressure, a big stadium, top of the bill and all that sort of stuff.

The thrills and spills of big-time boxing sometimes get to them so it’s going to be interesting to see if Tommy can handle that pressure, which I know he can, but it’s going to be interesting to see him do it in front of the world.’

Fury has also laid out plans for his brother next two fights, targeting Logan Paul and KSI once his overcomes Paul, believing that he should continue to target fights with YouTubers, rather than go back down the pro boxing route.

When asked about who’s next for his young sibling, the Gypsy King earmarked Jake Paul’s brother Logan and KSI as potential next opponents for Tommy Fury.

‘When he beats Jake Paul, I’d like to see him fight the brother Logan and then if not Logan maybe a British celebrity like KSI. I was going say the other guy then, but he’s a bit smaller.’ Fury told iFL TV.

KSI and Paul are expected to square off later this year after exchanging several verbal jabs at each other, but the British influencer has previously stated he would fight Fury if he his victorious.

Paul and Fury were both in attendance for the Artur Beterbiev vs Anthony Yarde in London on Saturday night and had to be separated whilst doing promotion for their fight.

Older brother Tyson now wants both men to back-up their trash talking and expects a slugfest between the two fighters.

‘I’m glad this fight has been made, it’s been going on for about two years on. When you talk a lot, you’ve got to back it up. Tommy and Jake have both talked a lot, so they need to deliver now and give a good fight. They’re not like some bad*** slick boxers, they are two novices with fame and popularity, so they should go in there and have a slugfest.’ He added.

The younger Fury boasts an unbeaten pro record so far between the ropes, having won his first eight fights, but his elder brother doesn’t believe this will be a one-punch fight and believes the win will come later in the fight.

Going on to say: ‘I don’t think it’s going to be like a one punch kind of job, I think Tommy can wear him out and stick it on him in the later rounds. As soon as Tommy hits him with some hard punches, I want to see what Jake Paul’s made of. When Tommy hits me with hard punches, it’s hurt me. I know he ain’t as tough or as big as me, so he’s definitely going to be feeling pain and a lot of it.’

Fury and Paul were first scheduled to face off in December 2021, but Fury had to pull out of the fight after suffering a broken rib and a chest infection.

The rearranged fight was then moved to August last year, but Fury again backed out of the event after he was refused entry to America due to a visa issue.

However, Fury’s Dad later stated that his son ‘wasn’t exactly in training’ for the bout that was booked for New York’s famous Madison Square Garden.
