Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder has date and venue as Anthony Joshua fight delayed

Anthony Joshua's plans to unify the heavyweight division appear to be in tatters with news that Tyson Fury will have to fight Deontay Wilder in a trilogy first, with Bob Arum confirming he won't pay the 'Bronze Bomber' to step aside.

Joshua vs Fury seemed to be on for August 14 in Saudi Arabia after lengthy negotiations concluded last week.

The fight seemed to have a date, venue and purse split that all parties were on board with, with Fury even confirming himself that the deal was done.

But now, those plans are well and truly in tatters.

As Star Sport revealed on Monday, an arbitrator in the US ruled in Wilder's favour and deemed Fury had to complete his contractual agreement with Wilder and give him an immediate rematch after their bout in February 2020.

It had been speculated that Wilder would accept a deal to fight the winner of the undisputed bout and take a large step-aside fee.

But now, Fury's promoter Arum has dismissed those suggestions and declared he plans to make a fight with Wilder next.

Speaking to ESPN, he confirmed that he has reserved the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for a trilogy fight on July 24.

Plans for a Fury-Wilder trilogy will no doubt scupper Joshua's plans for the rest of the year.

The WBO, WBA and IBF world champion could now be forced to face Oleksandr Usyk in his next bout.

Usyk is mandatory challenger for the WBO belt, and his manager has confirmed that he will push for a shot at Joshua.
