Tyson Fury AGAIN claims Anthony Joshua fight is OFF

‘AJ’s finally out, he’s ducked his way out, he’s a s***bag coward’: Tyson Fury AGAIN claims Anthony Joshua fight is OFF, as he ‘accepts’ offer to take on an underwhelming showdown with Mahmoud Charr instead

  • Tyson Fury performed another U-turn to call off his fight with Anthony Joshua
  • The Gypsy King initially gave fans hope the deal could still be announced
  • But Fury has now claimed Joshua has ‘ducked out’, calling him a ‘coward’
  • He has now reiterated his desire to face Mahmoud Charr on December 3

Tyson Fury has claimed his fight with Anthony Joshua is off again – for a second time in a week – after initially hinting the bout could be resurrected, as he called his rival ‘a s***bag coward’ and accepting a fight with Mahmoud Charr instead.

The Gypsy King has been goading Joshua into signing his contract to set up a blockbuster Battle of Britain clash in Cardiff on December 3, but the WBC champion grew tired of waiting for him and told him the fight was off after missing the 5pm deadline he set on Monday.

The showdown looked dead in the water until Fury revealed his promotion company Queensbury were still in talks to stage the bout – urging Joshua to sign the contract today after broadcasters DAZN, BT Sport and ESPN all came to an agreement – but has now claimed the Watford-born star has ‘ducked his way out’ once again.

Tyson Fury has again claimed his fight with Anthony Joshua is off after giving hope that their Battle of Britain showdown could be resurrected

Fury gave Anthony Joshua a deadline to sign the contract for their battle of Britain clash on Monday but he missed it – before giving him another chance to agree a deal

Speaking on an Instagram story, Fury said: ‘Mahmoud Charr, it seems now that AJ is finally out, he’s ducked his way out and a s***tbag, coward, and you’re the man who wants to fight, so I like that.

‘I like the fact you’re very vocal and you’re calling for a fight like a man should do. Any man who wants to fight a man should call him out as you’ve been doing to me. So I accept your challenge Mahmoud Charr, let’s get it on motherf****er.’

His latest rant comes hours after his personal plea to Joshua to sign his contract, U-turning on his decision to scrap the fight and telling him ‘the ball’s in your court’.

‘Anthony Joshua, where do we start,’ Fury said in a video message on Twitter. ‘The deadline was Monday. Frank Warren asked me and convinced me to let it carry on for a few more days.

Joshua was labelled ‘a s***bag coward’ by Fury after a continued delay in contract talks

‘Today is Thursday. And even though I knew you wouldn’t sign this contract, I allowed Frank to continue doing meetings with your team and your broadcasters and all that, and now we have BT, DAZN and ESPN all on the same page. They are happy with everything. they’re all happy, ready to rock ‘n roll.

‘You guys asked for a lot of stuff. You wanted to be co-promoters when you’re a voluntary challenger. Guess what, I said give it to ’em. Let them be co-promoters.

‘You wanted full transparency even though you’re not an equal shareholder in this party. Do you know what I said? Give him full transparency. I’ve got nothing to hide. I’m not trying to rob anybody. I’ve never robbed anybody of a penny in my life. So now you’ve got full transparency, everything is clean and fair.

‘The ball is really in your court, son. Everybody is done. If you were really a man, and you had any sort of dignity and pride about you, you’ll get this contract signed today.

‘This is it. There are no more days, weeks and months. You’ve had the contract for over two weeks and you still haven’t signed it. Show the public that you really are a big coward – that I know you are – and don’t sign it. I don’t care either way, if you sign it or you don’t it makes no difference to me.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren (R) has been locked in talks to secure the Joshua fight all week

‘You’re a beaten man and I’m a world champion. I’m chucking you a massive bone, but I know I can punch your face in so I’m willing to give you an opportunity.

‘There’s nothing more to do, everyone is happy, get your team onto mine, they’ll be available all day like they have been the past two weeks. Get this contract signed today you big p**** and give the British fans what they want.

‘There’s no more running, you have to fight me. You cannot escape. The Fury is coming… B****’.

The latest saga caps of a chaotic week of back and forth between Fury and AJ’s camp that had left the heavyweight landscape up in the air.

Fury first gave Joshua the chance to battle for his WBC belt in September, with negotiations delayed initially by the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Tensions that started to grow after Fury claimed Joshua had spent 10 days with the contract without sending it back – and while ringside at Joe Joyce v Joseph Parker he vowed to walk away in 48 hours if there was no answer from him by then.

After setting a 5pm deadline for Monday and seeing it pass with nothing from AJ’s camp, Fury announced the fight was off  – calling him an ‘idiot bodybuilder’ and wishing him luck with the rest of his career.

He has since called out Joyce himself as well as Charr – while Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn claimed he had even approached Dereck Chisora over a fight this week, just 24 hours before setting Joshua another deadline.

Joshua’s promoter Hearn hit back at the comments made by Fury over the past week

Hearn said he has been left baffled by Fury’s behaviour and said his constant deadline setting is not helping while the two camps hold talks.

He told Behind the Gloves: ‘He’s just offered a fight to Derek Chisora yesterday and then he says today “ok AJ I’ll give you until today”. It ain’t going to get done today.’

Hearn also hit back at the claims that have been made by Fury over the past week.

‘To be honest we are quite baffled by this situation,’ Hearn told Sky Sports.

‘Firstly, when we agreed terms for the fight it took us over a week to receive a draft contract. We have not have that contract for 14 days.

‘Over the next week we’ve worked tirelessly and had a number of meetings with Queensbury to get the contract in some kind of decent shape.

Fury has said he will be fighting on December 3, and is now set to fight an alternative opponent

‘Last Monday we sent our final draft of the contract only to see that Tyson Fury had publicly pulled out of the fight and that it was no longer on the table.

‘Yesterday we then received comments from Queensbury on a final draft of our agreement which is now being reviewed.

‘I’m not sure why Tyson Fury keeps setting unrealistic deadlines while also offering the fight to a number of other heavyweights for the selected date.’

Hearn continued: ‘If he’s serious about the fight being made I suggest he allows Matchroom and Queensbury to keep working hard to make the fight of which everyone has been trying hard to do.

‘You can’t publicly keep pulling out of a fight and then restart negotiations when there has been so many positive conversations had. We’ll see what happens from here.’
