Tommy Fury will be pleased after his WBC world ranking appears to be higher than first reported. It comes as more good news to the boxer following his victory over bitter rival Jake Paul last month.
The Mancunian defeated arch-nemesis Paul via split decision at the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia last month. Following his hard-fought victory, he officially entered the rankings earlier this month, but according to the World Boxing Council’s official website, the Brit sits at number 38, one place higher than originally reported.
Originally, the position of #39 placed Fury above Viddal Riley (#40) in the rankings, which prompted a call-out from the man at the bottom of the list. But due to the 23-year-old’s updated position, he is also ahead of Serdar Avci in the pecking order, despite the Turk being in possession of the WBC International Silver title.
Fury’s rivalry with the YouTuber Paul is not over as the American has an opportunity to activate an immediate rematch clause in their existing contract. Paul stated after the fight that he intends to activate it and believes he is capable of avenging the loss later this year.

“I lost the fight, I wasn’t at my best and it’s that simple. I think a little bit of pressure is good but I had a lot of pressure and the stakes kept getting higher and higher each fight. Now there is definitely more relaxation going into the next one. A lot of things played into the [loss], even getting a point deducted in the beginning of the fight.
“I don’t know, it’s the hardest sport in the world and you have to have a peak moment. I was flat, very very flat. I beat him like eight to nine times out of ten, this just happened one of those times. He stepped up to the plate.” With Paul keen to get back on the winning track, his long-running feud with KSI rumbles on after the Watford local rejected his $30million winner-takes-all offer.

According to Mirror Fighting, negotiations are now on hold while KSI focuses on his upcoming clash with Joe Fournier. Calling out his YouTube rival, Paul tweeted: “$30million to the winner, nothing to the loser if you want me to agree to your request of 180 pounds and rehydration clause. Agree to that and I’m in. You just supposedly bet £10M so this should be easy to contract right?”
He later added: “Wade Plem has to commentate Paul vs KSI. That’s part of the deal to. Him and [Ariel] Helwani.” Expressing his disinterest in the offer, KSI responded: “There is no way I’m doing this deal because you still haven’t paid up for your last deal with Tommy Fury after he slapped you up.”
But Paul hit back: “There we go. You, your squirrel and your ‘partners’ don’t have the courage to put it all on the line in a contract and sign. Just like Tommy and his dad didn’t.”
