Tyson Fury’s trainer SugarHill Steward has revealed he gave a simple four-word message to the Gypsy King after Deontay Wilder put him to the floor twice in the fourth round of Sunday’s trilogy fight.
Despite finding the floor on two occasions a courageous Fury battled on throughout the remarkable bout, before clinching victory in the 11th round as knocked out his American rival with a round and a half to go.
Following his falls, it seems the heavyweight champion was given the simplest of messages from his trainer Steward, who told Fury: “Get back to boxing.”
Speaking after his fighter’s title win, Steward revealed exactly what was said in the Fury corner following the knockdown in round four.
He told Boxing Social: “I tell you I don’t actually remember but at that part, it wasn’t anything about a knockdown. That’s what everybody wants to know.

“It was just me giving him directions on how to fight, what to do. I don’t remember saying anything about a knockdown, like ‘oh watch out for this’, it was just, ‘get back to boxing’.”
Following his second successive victory over Wilder, the Gypsy King paid tribute to his great trainer, admitting that his remarkable win would not have been possible without the help and guidance of the 44-year-old.
Fury said: “I want to say if it wasn’t for Sugar, America’s and Detroit’s own, I wouldn’t have gotten through that fight tonight.
“He told me, he said get your jab working, big guy, and throw that right hand down the middle. That’s how the big dogs do it.”

Many regarded Sunday’s heavyweight as one of the greatest this century, with both fighters on more than one occasion knocking their opponent to the canvas.
With Steward locked under his arm by his side, Fury gave an immediate reaction to this victory inside the ring as he spoke about the strength and determination it took to win the bout.
He said: “Like the great John Wayne said, ‘I’m made of pig, iron and steel baby!’”
Fury went on to add: “First of all I’d like to thank my lord and saviour Jesus Christ. In the mighty name of Jesus I won this fight tonight again, I give him the glory he gives me the victory.
“I was down a couple of times, I was hurt. Wilder is a strong puncher and he is a tough man. I was hitting him with some big shots and my lord and saviour rose me to my feet tonight to give him the glory.”
