Steel City Showdown LIVE updates: Tim Tszyu v Dennis Hogan at Newcastle Entertainment Centre
1 of 1
First of the main undercard bouts almost ready
We have Renold Quinlan (12-7) taking on Mateo Tapia (12-0) at super middleweight. Tapia is Mexican born but fights out of Sydney. He’s 22, Quinlan is 31, so most expect Tapia to take this one out as they warm up the ring. This one over 10 rounds.
Tim Tszyu already in the venue
He looks calm and collected and just oozes class. Very clinical finisher, can’t wait to see what he does against Hogan, who has fought well at a very high level but it’s been a while between drinks for the 36-year-old. His last fight was a misadventure at middleweight for the WBC belt against Jermall Charlo back in 2019, with that ending in a one-sided beating and a KO.
Good evening fight fans… welcome aboard
Evening everyone, Phil Lutton here, welcome to our live coverage to the super welterweight clash between Tim Tszyu and Dennis Hogan. Can’t wait for the action from Newcastle, a town where Tim’s dad Kostya fought seven times and seven times he triumphed.
Tszyu the clear favourite against Hogan, the Irish veteran, and I think he will take this step up with relative ease and stop the game Hogan in six or seven. Hopefully we see a decent fight after a series of bad mismatches. I wrote about that earlier in the week, have a read here.
