Paddy Pimblett has explosively claimed that all bar one of Jake Paul’s fights have been fixed. The Baddy says that Paul’s ESPN knockout of the year winner against Tyron Woodley was the real deal but has doubts over the legitimacy of his other bouts.
The Problem Child is currently 6-0 as a professional with wins over multiple ex-UFC fighters including Woodley who he rendered unconscious with a perfectly timed overhand right last December. In his last outing, he defeated long-reigning UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva in his toughest test to date.
But despite his obvious improvements and the fact that he has only been boxing for five years, few inside the combat sports world give him much credit. Many remain sceptical over the ceiling of ability and there have been multiple allegations of fight-fixing from fans and pundits alike.
Among them is Pimblett – who claims all but one of his fights were thrown by the opponents. “Jake Paul is actually not that bad now, even though I think his fights are fixed,” he told Pub Talk.
“I don’t think the Tyron Woodley knockout was fixed because when you get knocked out like that and you land face first, if you’re not unconscious you’re going [puts arms out]. You can’t help it that’s a human reaction. But I have seen an angle of a punch he hit Anderson Silva with the other day when he sat down, and he didn’t even hit him.”
Paul has unanimously denied the allegations and says that the comments have made him ‘lose faith in society’. During a recent appearance on the MMA Hour, he said: “I think smart people with intelligence are giving me props and respect. The WBC President saying that anyone who says Jake is not a real boxer is just bitter and is a hater.
“People like Teddy Atlas showing me mad respect, a lot of fighters showing me mad respect, a lot of MMA guys texting me saying, ‘You look really sharp, that was the best you’ve fought,’ Ryan Garcia showing me respect.
“So, the smart people who I care about are showing that love. There are the people who will always be there in my career who are discrediting it. Now they’re saying it was rigged.
“It went from, ‘Jake’s going to get knocked out by Anderson,’ to, ‘Oh, that was rigged.’ I lose faith in my generation and my peers and us as a society and a world when I see that type of stuff and that type of stupidity. It just sucks.”
