Mike Tyson sends plea to Tyson Fury after Gypsy King’s boxing retirement hint
Boxing legend Mike Tyson has sent world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury a message to continue boxing and shun retirement for now amid rumours the Gypsy King could hang up his gloves.
Fury defeated Wilder to retain his WBC title at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The highly-anticipated third bout between the pair lived up to the billing and will go down as one of the great heavyweight fights in modern boxing history.
Fury was in the driving seat early, particularly after he knocked Wilder down in round three. Wilder – who reportedly broke his hand in the loss – impressively struck back in round four as he knocked Fury twice to the canvas, critically striking the Brit when he was struggling to stand.
However, the Gypsy King got to his feet and responded excellently to seize control of the fight in the latter rounds.
His dominance ensured that it was his fight to lose and after Wilder picked himself up from a 10th-round knockdown, Fury delivered the killer blow with a crushing 11th round knockout strike.
Across their trilogy of bouts, Fury dominated Wilder and landed considerably more strikes than the Bronze Bomber.
While he retained the WBC belt, the future of the Gypsy King appears to be murky with plenty of rumours indicating he could retire.
However, Iron Mike urged the 33-year-old to keep fighting and extend his 32-match unbeaten record.
“Keep on winning brother, keep on winning,” Tyson told Reuters in a message to Fury.

“He's the lineal champion. He's the man who beat the man. He is heavyweight boxing, period. He is, nobody else.
“Ask anybody except for [Oleksandr] Usyk, who is the heavyweight champion? And Usyk might even say it's Fury.”
The comments from the former undisputed champion come after Fury suggested he could retire as he doesn’t need to fight anymore.
However, the Gypsy King gave fans a glimmer of hope as he announced he has one more fight remaining on his contract with Top Rank and ESPN.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Fury admitted.

“I’ve got one fight left on my contract with Top Rank and ESPN and we’ll see what that is. But I’m not thinking about boxing right now. I don’t know how many fights I’ve got left.
“I don’t know if I need to fight any more. I don’t know what the future holds.”
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren refused to rule out retirement as an option for the two-time world champion.
Warren insisted he will support whatever decision Fury makes as he has earned the right to do so – and must ‘do what is right for him’.
