Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Jr. has certainly lived up to his nickname, amassing a huge fortune during and after his successful professional boxing career. The American’s net worth dwarfs that of British boxing star Anthony Joshua, while it almost leaves him on par with football icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
Born into a successful boxing family, Mayweather turned professional in 1996 and racked up four wins while still a teenager. Working his way through the ranks undefeated, he won his first world title in 1998 at super featherweight.
As he became increasingly respected and recognisable, Mayweather was thrown into a range of high-profile fights. By the time he retired, he had picked up wins over all-time greats such as Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao.
Bowing out with an unblemished record of 50-0, Mayweather’s last professional fight, against MMA star Conor McGregor, reportedly earned him a monstrous £234million.

All told, ‘Money’ Mayweather spent years near the top of the sporting rich list and currently has a net worth of just over £373m. By comparison, British superstar Joshua boasts a net worth of £66m, despite selling out multiple huge fights during his own boxing career.
Joshua had the nation watching on for his big win over Wladimir Klitschko in 2017, as well as a rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr. and two huge bouts against Oleksandr Usyk, which were both won by the Ukrainian. Next up, AJ fights Jermaine Franklin on April 1.
Mayweather’s huge numbers put him just behind Ronaldo in terms of net worth. The Portuguese, who recently became the best-paid footballer of all time, reportedly has a personal fortune of £415m.
Having left Manchester United in bitter circumstances last year, Ronaldo signed a whopping £173m-per-year deal with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr which will take him beyond his 40th birthday. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner also has a lucrative sponsorship deal with Nike which, back in 2021, was reported to bank him an extra £14.7m per year.
Since his retirement from boxing, Mayweather has taken part in numerous exhibition bouts which have only added to his massive fortune. YouTube stars Logan Paul and Deji are among those to have gone toe-to-toe with the 46-year-old.
Mayweather also fought reality TV personality Aaron Chalmers back in January, although his first fight in the UK did not capture the hearts and minds of the public as the O2 Arena was littered with empty seats.
