Mayweather's assistant Laurico passes away aged 47

Floyd Mayweather’s assistant Marikit Laurico dies aged 47 after ‘feeling unwell during a trip to Dubai’ as the veteran boxer’s daughter insists she was ‘family’ and ‘the definition of someone with a good heart’

Floyd Mayweather’s long-standing assistant Marikit Laurico has passed away at the age of 47.

She had worked with the five-division world champion for much of his 25-year career in boxing.

Reports in the Sun suggest Laurico had been ‘feeling unwell’ during a recent trip to Dubai before her passing.

They also say the cause of death may have been a heart attack, though this is currently unconfirmed.

Mayweather’s daughter paid tribute to her father’s assistant on social media with a message that read: ‘This doesn’t feel real… my heart is so heavy. You were more than just my dad’s assistant you were family.

‘You were the definition of someone with a good heart, you always lifted people up and made them feel good about themselves.

‘There’s no one like you will truly be missed, love you forever.’

Another tweet from a friend read: ‘RIP Marikit Laurico.  She was the real deal.

‘Loyalty? Trust? Respect? Diligence? Humbleness? That’s Kitchie. All due respect Hall of Famer. Thank you for being you.’

Mayweather is yet to comment on Laurico’s passing.
