Ebanie Bridges may have come out on the right side of a points victory over Mailys Gangloff at Headingley on Saturday evening – but the result wasn't without controversy.

The Blonde Bomber came into the bout on the back of an impressive TKO victory over Bec Connolly back in August, which followed her narrow defeat at the hands of Shannon Courtenay.

The 34-year-old, from New South Wales, Australia, faded badly after a fine start against her French opponent but went the distance as the decision went to the referee.

Steve Gray scored the bout 77-76 to the favourite, but many viewers at home had a different view, with DAZN's Darren Barker saying that the losing fighter had been wronged.

One said: "100% fixed that one, she won 1/2 rounds at best, joke result."

With a second saying: "Come on @EddieHearn no way @EbanieBridges won that fixed."

A third continued: "Such a crazy fixed sport."

A turning point in the bout came as Bridges appeared to be struggling with a hand injury, but that didn't deter her from pushing forward as Gangloff begun to cause more damage.

Ebanie wrote on Twitter after her seventh victory from eight professional bouts: "Thanks to everyone that tuned in & all the fans that came to Leeds! Love you all I hope you enjoyed the fight!

"Fight dr said he’s pretty sure it’s broken but will get scans to confirm but I’m praying it’s just really swollen. Time for some well deserved rest."

That message was accompanied by a photo of her hand, which was severely swollen following the bruising eight-round encounter in Leeds.

Before the bout, having worn her trademark lingerie at the weigh-in, promoter Hearn admitted that he decided to look elsewhere with cameras everywhere.

Speaking to Official Behind The Gloves, he said: "Anywhere the eyes look, there are cameras everywhere, do you know what I mean?

"So the best way to go about it is just to look somewhere else. Ebanie knows what she's doing. She's a tremendous fighter. Obviously a lot of people want to see her weigh-in as well.

"It is what it is, but for me, it's not about keeping composure, it's about making sure the camera doesn't catch me at a particular time where I might be looking somewhere that looks like I'm looking somewhere else.

"I'm respectful of that and I think I'll just find a spot at the back of the wall somewhere."
