Tyson Fury’s promoter has affirmed that Anthony Joshua is not in their future plans unless he is willing to face Joe Joyce or Daniel Dubois to make ‘his way back into the top table’. Fury and Joshua were set to face each other on December 3 at the Principality Stadium.
But despite positive initial talks, communication between the two parties dropped at the eleventh hour. As a result, Derek Chisora was brought in to face Fury on the same date in a fight that was bashed by critics upon its announcement.
Like many expected, Fury utterly dominated Chisora in a one-sided beating that was halted in the tenth round after a compassionate stoppage from referee Victor Laughlin. Chisora showed tremendous resilience in the face of adversity but was ultimately overcome by a far better foe.
Now, Fury will turn his attention towards tougher tests with Oleksandr Usyk and Joyce being at the top of his hit list. But there is still a considerable appetite for the long-awaited grudge match with AJ even after the recent collapse.
Warren, however, has no such interest and made that extremely clear when asked about where Joshua fits into Fury’s future plans.
“Nowhere, we’ve got better fights to put on now. He had his opportunity and as I say we have bigger and better fights,” he told iD Boxing. “I have no problem making him against Joe Joyce or Daniel Dubois if he wants to make his way back into the top table.”

Joyce is currently awaiting his shot at the winner of the proposed undisputed unification bout between Fury and Usyk. While Dubois is expected to have a prolonged absence from the ring after sustaining what looks to be serious ligament damage to his left knee in his bout on Saturday against Kevin Lerena.
Joshua would likely have to wait for both opportunities and is instead targeting a March return against Dillian Whyte. According to promoter Eddie Hearn, Whyte is the ‘frontrunner’ to face Joshua next after beating Jermaine Franklin. This is dependent on his recovery from the aforementioned contest. If he is unable to make the initial date, then the fight will be made in the summer with a replacement being brought in for AJ in March.
