Frank Warren declares that the Tyson Fury fight is ‘off the table’ for Anthony Joshua. The British promoter has instead offered the Watford powerhouse ‘two great fights’ against Joe Joyce and Daniel Dubois.

Fury and Joshua looked set to face each other on December 3 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. However, negotiations fell through ten weeks before the proposed date.

Eddie Hearn and Frank’s son George had been negotiating a marked-up contract after Hearn raised concerns about a number of undisclosed points in the original paperwork. Initial conversations had been described as ‘positive’, but communication dropped in the eleventh hour.

Now, Fury is expected to face Derek Chisora for the third time on December 3 while Joshua is set to square off against a ‘credible top 15 opponent’ on December 17 at Wembley Arena. Otto Wallin is believed to be the frontrunner for AJ’s next fight, but Warren has thrown two other names into the mix.

“If [Joshua] wants to fight, there’s two great fights there with Joe Joyce and Daniel Dubois,” Warren told IFL TV. “Both hold very significant positions in their respective organizations. They’re both mandatories. One is the interim champion, that’s Joe Joyce. Daniel is the WBA ‘Regular’ champion. There’s another way back if he wants to talk about it.”

Discussing whether he feels the Joshua fight will ever take place, Warren continued: “It’s off the table. If you look at it, AJ has to get himself in the mandatory position. To get into the mandatory position, he gets 20 per cent of the purse bid, whereas he would have gotten 40 per cent.

“Tyson has only been out for one fight a year (since 2020),” noted Warren. “We’re just trying to get him out. We expected the fight in December would be [unified WBA ‘Super’/IBF/WBO champ Oleksandr] Usyk. But Usyk wasn’t available.

“Now it looks like we hope for some time in February. Tyson wants to fight sometime before then. He wanted to fight in December, and we wanted to get him out. So, we’re getting him out.”
