Jake Paul responds to 'hater' Canelo Alvarez for kicking fans out of the ring
Jake Paul has hit out at ‘old hater’ Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez after the Mexican superstar kicked fans of the YouTuber out of the ring following his victory on Saturday.
Canelo dominated Avni Yildirim to defend his WBC and WBA super-middleweight titles in Miami at the weekend to set up a unification showdown with WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders in May.
During the post-fight interview, two mystery fans snuck into the ring and stood among Canelo’s party.
One appeared to be wearing a black t-shirt with Paul’s face printed on the front – the other wearing one featuring Ben Askren, who Paul is scheduled to fight on April 17.
Unimpressed with their presence, Canelo made his feelings known and told the pair to ‘get the f**k out of here’ with the two quickly taking his advice.
‘Canelo, what’s your problem, bro? Why you hate me so much?,’ Paul told TMZ.
‘Canelo’s mad. He has this thing against me. Said I’m bad for the sport. I’m disrespecting it, which doesn’t make sense at all.”
‘I’m actually just bringing more eyeballs, more awareness to the sport of boxing. But since Canelo, you wanted to start this beef, let’s do it.’
Paul went onto accuse Canelo of fucking competition, adding: ‘Why not fight Caleb Plant? David Benavidez? BooBoo Andrade?
‘You’re ducking them. You’re ducking them, Canelo! You’re an old hater, that’s what you are.’
Canelo has been a vocal critic of YouTube boxing, offering to give Paul a reality check when asked if he would ever be willing to fight one of the Paul brothers.
‘I truly believe that it’s a lack of respect,’ Canelo said last December. ‘It’s all based on money. It’s all for money. I’m focused right now on other projects.
‘I have other stuff going on, and I would invite him [Jake Paul] for a sparring session so that he truly knows what it’s all about.’
