Jake Paul reminds Tommy Fury of unfortunate comments about pulling out
Jake Paul has reminded Tommy Fury of unfortunate comments he made about the American pulling out of their planned fight.
The duo had been set to meet in Tampa, Florida on December 18, but Fury was forced to withdraw from the bout on Monday due to a chest infection and broken rib.
Fury has since stated that he has requested a rescheduling of the fight for when he returns to full fitness and that he still wants to meet Paul in the ring.
Former UFC champion Tyron Woodley will now face Paul in a rematch on the card after stepping up to fill the void left by Fury's withdrawal.
YouTuber turned boxer Paul has wasted no time in taking to social media to mock Fury since his withdrawal was announced.
Paul posted a series of Instagram stories on Monday night that poked fun at the British fighter, including one which reminded him of past comments he made about Paul dropping out.
The first post shows a tweet from online betting company NetBet which states that, on November 10, Fury said: “I’m going to splatter him. I’m begging Jake Paul, please do not pull out.”

Paul followed this up with a tweet from American middleweight J'Leon Love which read: “I told y’all Tommy never really wanted to fight and he was forced. I’m not surprised at all. Go back to that tweet and I could see it a mile away.”
Finally, he uploaded a third tweet to his Instagram account which said: “When Tommy Fury is 100% healthy and injury free, I found his new opponent.”
The tweet was accompanied with the BoxRec profile of an out of shape fighter with a record of 0-29, with all their defeats via knockout.
Paul will now look to extend his professional record to 5-0 when he faces Woodley for a second time, having beaten him via split decision when they fought in Cleveland in August.
