Hearn smashes Anthony Joshua punch machine score after calling out Simon Jordan

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn was seen bettering the score of heavyweight star Anthony Joshua, after trying his hand on a punch machine. The machines have proven popular with boxing stars in recent weeks, with Joshua, Tyson Fury and the Gypsy King's brother Tommy all showing off their scores on social media.

Heavyweight champion Fury has been seen smashing the highest score, as he recorded a remarkable 993 (out of 999) when landing a brutal right hand onto the machine. His younger brother Tommy as he landed a more than respectable 948.

Fellow British star Joshua also tried his hand on one of the machines when he appeared on the Graham Norton Show, and landed a score of 848 from his attempt.

Now it seems it is the turn of the promoters, and remarkably Matchroom's Hearn managed to smash a score higher than that of former heavyweight champion of the world Joshua. In a video uploaded on Twitter, Hearn was seen showing off his punching skills in a machine kitted out with the Matchroom logo.

After landing a heavy blow, the promoter and those with watched in a astonishment as his score rose, eventually stopping at an impressive 924, 76 better than Joshua's attempt. As a result, Hearn could well be putting this power into practice soon enough.

This comes after the promoter called out TalkSport host Simon Jordan to a clash in the boxing ring. Their dispute came after Jordan labelled Hearn a 'coward' in the wake of the postponement of the fight between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn last month.

Speaking on the promoter's decision not to answer questions following the cancellation of the fight after Benn testing positive for a banned substance, the TalkSport host said: "It’s a preposterous set of observations he’s made because he’s defending the indefensible.

“It’s cowardly because he wouldn’t come on and answer questions from people like us or go into a press conference where people are going to ask him real joined-up questions." Hearn soon responded to the comments, and suggested the pair settle their differences in the ring for charity.

He told iFL TV: "He’s had a very brutal fall from grace, but he’s very good at his new job on the radio and I think he’s there to be controversial. I never have a problem answering his questions. I think we should have a fight.

"I reckon he can’t fight at all, I can’t fight – I think it’d be unbelievable. We’ll do it for charity, then we’ll have a debate after. I’ve got a broken finger, but I’ll still fight."
