Hasim Rahman Jr hits back at Jake Paul after shocking PPV admission

Hasim Rahman Jr hits back at Jake Paul for claiming he’s ‘carrying the promotion’ of their upcoming fight, as he reveals he will not receive ANY of the PPV cash – despite YouTuber calling for fighters to be paid more

  • Jake Paul released a video claiming he is ‘carrying’ the fight’s promotion
  • Hasim Rahman Jr sensationally claimed he will not receive any PPV revenue
  • The pair are scheduled to face off on August 6 at Madison Square Garden
  • Paul has publicly feuded with UFC president Dana White over fighter pay

Hasim Rahman Jr has hit back at Jake Paul after the YouTube star claimed that he was singlehandedly carrying the promotion for their upcoming bout.

Paul released a spoof video earlier this week, claiming that he was suffering from a broken back as a result of doing the majority of the promotion from all five of his professional contests so far.

Posted to his Instagram account, Paul appears to be distressed in a hospital bed, with his girlfriend, 27-year-old Julia Rose, appearing as his nurse by his bedside.

Jake Paul took to Instagram to troll his previous opponents for failing to promote their fights

Paul then launches into a tirade against his recent competition inside the squared circle for ‘never selling s**t.’

Clearly unhappy with his opponent’s trolling tactics, Rahman Jr took to his Instagram story to rebuke Paul’s comments while also making the surprising admission that he is not set to receive any of the pay-per-view revenue that the event will generate.

Mockingly referring to Paul as ‘Mr Increase Fighters Pay’ (sic) amid his ongoing feud with UFC president Dana White over MMA wages, Rahman Jr explained that he would be more inclined to assist Paul in promoting the upcoming scrap if he too stood to benefit from an increase in pay-per-view buys.

Rahman Jr wrote: ‘@JakePaul Mr “Increase Fighters Pay” Maybe if I wasn’t getting 0% of the PPV you’d have some help. Don’t blame me Dumb***’

Hasim Rahman Jr took to his Instagram story to respond to Paul’s online antics

Rahman Jr, who was hastily added to the main event after Tommy Fury was unable to enter the US after reported visa issues, allegedly threatened to step away from the fight if his financial demands were not met.

‘Hasim Rahman Jr, actually right now, is trying to renegotiate his contract,’ Paul told The MMA Hour recently.

‘So he signed a contract last week for 10 times more than he’s ever been paid for any one of his fights, and now — boom, fast-forward one week — he’s trying to renegotiate, he’s trying to suck more money out of the fight, he’s trying to do anything he can to claw and make the money, because I think he realises the consequences of what might happen.’

Rahman Jr is the first man that Paul has faced with a background in professional boxing

However, Rahman refuted Paul’s claims, and the fight looks set to go ahead as planned on August 6.

Since transitioning into a career in professional boxing, Paul has been embroiled in a well-publicised feud with White over the state of fighter pay in the MMA organisation.

The pair have been trading shots in the media for over a year, with Paul publicly offering to fight in the UFC for free if White agrees to provide health insurance for the organisation’s roster of over 600 fighters.

Should he emerge victorious next month, Paul may set his sights on a clash with Nate Diaz, after it was releveled earlier this week that the former UFC title challenger will be facing Khamzat Chimaev in the final fight of his UFC contract in September.
