The bout went to the judges’ scorecards and Parker was awarded the fight by split decision

Chisora, 37, floored the former world champion after just seven seconds in Manchester

The 37-year-old came firing out from the first bell and dropped former WBO champion Parker after just seven seconds.

Having been persuaded to go through with the headline fight by his mother after a row over the ring walks, Chisora looked set for one of the biggest wins of his career when he landed his signature looping overhand right moments after the first bell.

Parker, 29, weathered some more punishing moments before finishing strongly against his tiring rival and was given the nod 116-111 and 115-113 by two of the judges, with a third scoring the contest 115-113 in favour of Chisora.

Chisora felt he had done enough to have his hand raised and lamented another narrow decision loss, as he blasted afterwards: ‘I am beyond getting upset now. I train hard, I bring everything and this is the treatment I get from boxing. Same as last fight (a decision loss to Oleksandr Usyk). They don’t like me.

‘I put it all in there and this is the result I get. This is unbelievable. Even his coach Andy Lee said I won the fight.’

Since the loss, Chisora has called for a rematch with Parker – taking to social media to further underline his desire for this to happen.

Chisora followed coach Buddy McGirt’s plan to a tee in a very promising opening to the fight

On Monday he wrote on Instagram: Thank you very much to all those who supported me over the weekend. I will push for the rematch as hard as I can, thank you.’

This statement followed a social media post he wrote on Sunday, which read: ‘Fight fans thank you! I appreciate all the messages and love after battling for 12 rounds with @joeboxerparker last night. It’s been amazing.

‘I’m not slowing down or retiring, I’m ready to jump straight into the rematch. Dillian Whyte thought I won the fight, Andy Lee thought I won it. Even Joseph Parker knew he lost.

‘Respect to Joe for stepping in the ring with me, but we need to do it again – find out the real winner. @eddiehearn make it happen – undercard of AJ-Fury in Saudi – I won’t be leaving it to judges scorecards next time!

‘I know lockdown has been tough on everybody, but things are finally opening up. The spirit you’ve all shown in tough times has been unbelievable. It’s an honour that you choose to watch me.

‘There have been so many unseen heroes through these times fighting their own battles daily. Support your local businesses, your local coffee shop, fish and chips, whatever it is you like doing. They need you right now. I want to say thank you so much once again and I will be back in the ring bringing WAR very soon.’

However, Parker grew in confidence as the fight wore on, and the Kiwi began to find his range
