Tommy Fury has revealed x-ray scans of the broken rib he sustained during sparring which has forced his dramatic withdrawal from next week’s grudge fight against Jake Paul.
Fury, the 22-year-old half-brother of world heavyweight champion Tyson, was set to fight YouTuber-turn boxer Paul in Florida on December 18 but he pulled out yesterday.
Despite taunting by Paul, Fury explained in a video on Instagram that he contracted a bacterial chest infection before ploughing on in training and sustaining ‘multiple fractures’ of the rib in sparring – with his doctors and team affirming he had to withdraw from the fight.

Images from his video shows his rib, while he insisted he was now looking forward to rearranging a new date for a fight against Paul, insisting there ‘is no other fight out there.’
Fury begins: ‘Training camp couldn’t have gone any better for me for the first week or two but then I contracted a bacterial chest infection which led me to go to the gym and not being able to breathe.
‘My sparring sessions, pad work sessions , whatever it may be I wasn’t able to breathe and I was coughing up huge amounts of phlegm all the time.
‘It led me to sleepless nights and that went on for four weeks. I had the mind-set of, ‘I’m going to train, I’m going to get through this, I’m going to fight no matter what.
Fury insisted he was now looking forward for a rearranged date with Paul for 2022
Paul slammed Fury in an Instagram post when announcing Fury’s withdrawal on Monday
‘Four weeks past and we decided to have a sparing session and I took a little clip to the body and because my body was so weak due to the virus, I instantly knew something wasn’t right.
‘I was throwing up from the pain , I was doubled over. I literally got my bag and went straight to the hospital for an MRI scan and got the results back the same day.
‘The results showed I had a clean break and I had multiple fractures. For the following week I still thought I could fight but then it took the doctor and my whole team to say you cant fight.’
Tyron Woodley, who lost to Paul in the summer, has replaced the Love Island star for the December 18 fight.
Paul slammed Fury’s withdrawal, calling him ‘boxing’s biggest b****’ and has for now ruled out a 2022 date for a rearranged bout, yet Fury thinks otherwise.

‘Even now it hasn’t sunk in that I’m not fighting. My only focus is getting a new fight date set and recovering,’ the Love Island star added.
‘I can’t do anything else apart from get my body right as quickly as possible and look for a new fight date with Jake Paul.
‘There is no other fight out there, that’s the fight I want next and hopefully we can work out a new date for next year.’
Paul confirmed the news on Monday in a toxic Instagram post slamming Fury for his withdrawal.
‘It’s official: Tommy Fury is boxing’s biggest b****,’ said Paul in an Instagram video. ‘He has pulled out of the fight. The Furys have pulled out of the fight due to a “medical condition”.

‘Who knows what the f*** is going on in that camp? I think he has a bad case of bursitis. He fumbled the biggest bag of his life, now he will be watching at home, paying me $60 instead of getting paid millions of dollars to fight me.
‘I’ve fought with a broken nose, I’ve fought sick. Get the f*** over it, this is boxing. It’s official. He was scared. I think the pressure got to him, the s*** talk got to him. That’s the bad news.
‘The good news is that Mr Tyron Woodley, we called him up and we were like: “hey, do you want to take the fight?” He has been in training.
‘He was like: “Sure, we’ll take the fight, let’s do the rematch, run it back.” I’m giving him $500,000 extra dollars if he can knock me out.’
