Fury reveals Usyk fight is set to take place in Saudi Arabia

‘I’m here to put it on’: Tyson Fury reveals talks are underway to stage his undisputed fight against Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia early next year, having spoken to Prince Khalid – who was in London to conclude a deal – after beating Derek Chisora

  • Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are in talks regarding their undisputed fight
  • And Fury revealed he is hoping to stage the historic bout in Saudi Arabia
  • The Gypsy King retained his WBC belt with a win over Derek Chisora on Saturday
  • Fury will first require surgery on his elbow before taking on the Ukrainian

Tyson Fury has revealed he spoke to Saudi Arabia’s Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud immediately after beating Derek Chisora regarding his impending bout against Oleksandr Usyk.

The Gypsy King stopped Chisora in 10 brutal rounds at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night, before bringing unified heavyweight champion Usyk into the ring in the immediate aftermath.

There is full expectation Fury and Usyk will now fight for all four heavyweight belts, and Fury revealed talks are already underway to stage the fight in Saudi Arabia early next year.

Prince Khalid, the country’s defence secretary and son of King Salman, was a driving force as Fury and Anthony Joshua agreed to fight in Saudi Arabia last year, only for the bout to fall through.

This time, though, there is no Deontay Wilder arbitration case to get in the way, and – for the first time since Lennox Lewis in 1999 – an undisputed heavyweight champion could be crowned.

Speaking to BT Sport on the potential Usyk bout, Fury said: ‘Let’s get the undisputed fight on. I just spoke to Prince Khalid in the hallway.

‘I said to him, “Let’s not mess around, let’s get this fight over the line”. He said, “What do you think I’m here for? I’m here to put it on”.

‘Let’s hope it can be made for early next year and we can get on with it.’

The current unified heavyweight champion looked unimpressed ringside as Fury cruised to victory ahead of a potential undisputed showdown

Should the pair fight, the winner would become the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the world since Lennox Lewis

Fury retained his WBC crown and remained unbeaten in doing so with his 10-round demolition job against Chisora, with his record now standing at 32-0-1.

The 34-year-old was again in talks to fight Joshua – rather than Chisora – this month, before those negotiations also fell through.

However, after meeting Usyk in the ring following his bout against Del Boy, and after hurling a barrage of insults at the Ukrainian, the fight now feels as if it will take place next.

‘Usyk you’re next you little b****,’ Fury said in the ring. ‘You are next. Me and you next. You’re next. Rabbit! P****! 15st little midget bodybuilder. Well I ain’t a bodybuilder, I’m going to write you off.

‘I already done one Ukrainian in [Wladimir] Klitschko didn’t I? And I’ll do you as well, gappy teeth.

‘You ugly little man. Lets get it on b****. You may laugh now but I’ll end this lil sucker. I’ll end you. You little sucker. What are you gonna do? You’re gonna do f*** all you little sausage.’

Before Fury and Usyk can share the squared circle, however, the Gypsy King will need to undergo surgery on his elbow.

‘I’ve got to maybe have surgery on my right elbow,’ he said. ‘I had the left one done, so I’ve got to have it done. It will take about six-to-eight weeks to heal. We’ll see when we can be ready for this fight.’

The Gypsy King has previously spoken on having issues with his elbows, with his father John Fury revealing following his win over Deontay Wilder last year that the issue had required medical intervention.

Tyson was very badly injured going into that fight,’ he told BT Sport Boxing.

‘He had to have chromosome injections into both elbows. He’s since had an operation, six hours all day in hospital having them sorted out.

‘I think he had some bone spurs that he had to get removed, he was handicapped from the beginning. The boxing side of it went out the window because I knew he was going to be like that from early on.’
