Tyson Fury flew to Iceland to provoke Hafthor Bjornsson in the hope he would confront him face-to-face. Accompanied by his father John, they took to the streets of the Nordic nation hoping to find the actor and strongman.

However, their efforts were in vain as they discovered the 33-year-old is in Rome filming a movie. This morning, the WBC heavyweight champion posted a clip to social media in which he announced his arrival in Bjornsson’s home country.

Fury began by posting a clip at the airport on his Instagram story: “Do you know where we are guys? Iceland. And you know what we’re doing here? We’re looking for Thor. Come out and fight like a man.” Not long later, he posted a clip from outside Thor’s gym after finding out he is currently abroad and invited him to come and find him in the UK.

“So we came to Iceland to fight Thor,” Fury explained, “He’s not here, so now Thor if you want any smoke with the Gypsy King, you’re gonna have to come to Morecambe Bay and find me.” During their trip the father-son duo stopped to buy famous Viking hats and visited a pub at the end of the day.

Fury took some time on his trip to speak to Icelandic newspaperFréttablaðiðand said: “I came here to pick a fight with Thor, but he’s not here, he ran away to Italy. He knew I was coming and he still left to Italy. So now I’ve got my Viking hat on and I’ve taken over Iceland, I’m the new king here.”

Bjornsson was aware of what transpired back home and took time out of his filming schedule to respond.

“I’m currently in Rome filming a movie,” he said, “And guess what? Tyson Fury’s in Iceland. He tried to find me, couldn’t find me, because I’m not there.

“But Tyson, if your team is serious, if you’re serious about fighting me, have your team send me a contract. Let’s get serious and I’ll find you, I’ll come to you.” Fury is in talks to contest an exhibition boxing match with the former World's Strongest Man.

"It would be a bit of fun," Fury toldThe Telegraph. "It would be great to get in there in front of, say, 70,000 fans and show him what boxing is all about, make him miss, and knock him out. We are talking to his team at the moment and it is definitely something I'm interested in."
