Eddie Hall is feeling hungry for success as he prepares for ’The Heaviest Boxing Match in History’.

The 2017 World's Strongest Man has shed a huge amount of body weight in recent months as he gets ready to meet Hafthor Bjornsson in a grudge match in September.

His feud with 2018 World's Strongest Man, Hafthor Bjornsson, started in a debate over a refereeing decision at the 2017 event, which was reignited when Eddie’s deadlift world record was surpassed by the Iceland national last year.

Best known as The Mountain from Game of Thrones, Bjornsson took part in his first training bout earlier this month, which ended in a draw.

After Eddie was called out by his rival, he hit back with a sparing video in which he showcased his power and precision after months of training.

In addition, the Brit has now explained how he was managed to go from 197kg to 161kg of lean muscle, which will give him more of the endurance that is required in the ring.

He said: “Been training really hard recently and I’m mega fired and hungry for success.

“Doing five cardio sessions a week – including boxing, cycling, swimming, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) land training. [This is] on top of four weight sessions.”

Eddie has been swimming in a bid to help his cardio, which is something he did regularly, and to a high standard, growing up in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

He said in a chat with Barbend in 2017: “I found it helped massively with lung capacity, heart function, and more than anything the mobility, because it helps the ligaments and capillaries and everything keep moving, so to speak.

“So I do an hour of swimming once a week – a minute on and a minute off.

“I do two laps as fast as I can, have a minute rest, and repeat that for an hour. It’s great cardio, great for mobility, and great for lung capacity.”

Bjornsson said after his training bout: “Eddie, you just have to train, man. I’m taking this seriously.

“I’ve seen you training. You been fighting this poor guy.”

With Eddie responding: “Training's ramping up, the countdown is on.

“Every punch is one step closer to punching Thor's brains out. I can't wait.”
