Heavyweight Derek Chisora has signed with 258 MGT, the management company owned by Anthony Joshua, less than two weeks before the heavyweight champion takes on Oleksandr Usyk.
Chisora’s most recent outing came in a controversial unanimous decision defeat to Joseph Parker in May this year, after which he amicably split with David Haye, with the decision announced in a joint statement.
The British heavyweight has since called for a rematch with the New Zealander, and has now teamed up with long-term acquaintance Joshua, who he first met a number of years ago at the Finchley amateur gym.

‘The game is still the same just with the new management team,’ Chisora said. ‘Looking forward to doing good business with 258. War Chisora!’
Meanwhile, 258 MGT managing director Freddie Cunningham said: ‘Derek has vast experience of the game and has seen the whole industry from the front-line.
‘We are just really happy with all that experience. He feels the 258 team can add to what he is doing.
‘We are excited to get going and looking to negotiate and build up to big fights before the year is out.’
Derek Chisora most recently fell to a unanimous decision defeat to Joseph Parker
The British heavyweight has called for a rematch, after knocking Parker down in the first round
Joshua, who turned professional in 2013 – the year after Chisora lost to both Vitali Klitschko and Haye – sparred with the 37-year-old in the build-up to his rematch victory over Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019.
And his expertise could once again come in handy, with Joshua set to take on heavyweight contender Usyk in less than two weeks on September 25.
Usyk moved up to heavyweight after claiming all the belts in the cruiserweight division and took on Chisora in his first meaningful bout in the division.
The Ukrainian was the overwhelming favourite but Chisora certainly caused him problems, despite ultimately falling to a unanimous decision defeat.
Joshua now looks to hand Usyk his first career defeat and take another step towards an all-British undisputed showdown against rival Tyson Fury.

As for Chisora, the Brit has a number of options available to him after signing his new deal.
David Higgins, Parker’s manager, recently stated he expects an offer to fight Chisora once more, which he insists they will entertain if the terms are acceptable.
Meanwhile, Fury – who Chisora has lost to on two occasions – included the veteran heavyweight as he outlined his dream next five fights.
‘We’ll do Wilder on October 9, we’ll do Dillian Whyte sometime in December that’s definitely going to happen – I’m going to splatter him for sure – then I’ll do the big bodybuilder [Joshua] in March in Saudi Arabia,’ he told BT Sport.
‘Then we’ll come back and do a bodybuilder rematch fight in September or something, then I’ll fight old Del Boy [Chisora] again make it third time lucky in the end of the year maybe December again.
‘Why not, get three victories over him, he’s actually doing well now so I’m really proud of him.’
