Boxing being halted by Covid-19 again a major worry for small-hall promoters
Boxing has taken another blow with news of the latest lockdown.
The British Boxing Board of Control has taken the step to shut the sport down for a month with growing pressure on the NHS.
It is a tough decision but, hopefully, we can be back up and running as soon as possible.
But there is no doubt it is all hurting the sport we love.
Fighters are left without a way to compete and make money while progressing their careers.
While it also means we are a long way off getting fans back into arenas for big shows but also smaller ones.
I really feel for the small-hall promoters out there who are struggling.
They simply can't stage shows behind closed doors as all their revenue comes from ticket sales.
We have all been hit hard in the sport but we had to bring boxing back last summer for TV and to keep the sport relevant.
But those involved further down who bring through some good talent have been left with no way to put on events.
Now this latest lockdown will add to their woe as we will have to wait longer to get supporters back.
But hopefully with the vaccine being rolled out then soon some sort of normality will return to our lives.
In the meantime, Queensberry Promotions will continue to work hard behind the scenes to get ready to return when we can.
The planning continues as the show must go on as soon as we get approval from the BBBofC to get going ahead.
And we will come back stronger than ever to make sure we keep delivering for the fight fans.
It's a tough fight for everyone in the country but boxing will battle on as well through these tough times for the world.
