Anthony Joshua insists Tyson Fury is merely one of many heavyweight boxers he is hoping to knock out in the coming years.

Joshua is on the brink of sealing an all-British showdown with his rival Fury and giving boxing fans the show they have most craved.

But the ever-cool Joshua has this week admitted that no extra attention is being given to Fury, as he plans to aim ‘beyond’ the sky when it comes to his achievements in the ring.

Anthony Joshua cannot wait to get back into the ring and ‘dance’ with the heavyweights

Speaking to BBC Radio 1Xtra, Joshua said: ‘Some people say sky’s the limit, I’m looking at what’s beyond there so I’m taking it all the way to the top and back and I can’t wait to get in the ring and compete with anyone this year, it’s not only Tyson Fury, there’s so many great Heavyweights I want to get in the ring with and dance with and beat up so Tyson Fury is just one on a long list.’

When asked further about how his life has been during the past 12-months, and whether he has struggled with lockdown just as much as everybody else, Joshua looked to focus on the positive.

Joshua says he looks beyond the saying ‘the sky is the limit’ and wants to achieve everything

The world champion said: ‘[It has been] Just like a transition period really, spent so many years living one way then had to kind of adapt so that transition of having the sunshine to being able to go outside, still work, train, connect with people over these types of video calls.

‘Then the winter season, luckily I got to fight towards the end of the year so it gives me purpose, boxing helps me living with purpose.’

As recently reported by Sportsmail, AJ’s blockbuster meeting with Fury should receive a major boost next month when an Oleksandr Usyk-shaped stumbling block is removed.

The charismatic Ukrainian is the mandatory challenger for Joshua’s WBO heavyweight title and his desire to compete for the belt had threatened to scupper plans for AJ to finally face Tyson Fury.

However, it appears that Usyk is now just weeks away from having an alternative fight with Joe Joyce confirmed, which would allow Joshua to agree the finer details of his clash with the Gypsy King.

Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that Usyk vs Joyce will go to purse bids at the beginning of March, with the winner likely to face the winner of Joshua vs Fury.
