UFC ace turns up to press conference with almost £50k but says ‘cash is trash’
Bobby Green arrived at UFC Vegas 71 with a giant gold ring on each finger and a hefty wad of cash.
Green strutted up to the desk, plonked his backside onto his seat, twiddled with his giant, rose tinted glasses and slapped a $60,000 (£48,000) wad of cash on the table. It was a lump of cash which could prop open a castle door, test the resistance of any elastic band in the country and could most certainly not fit into any normal wallet or pocket.
However, Green is no normal person or fighter, as he wants to prove when he faces New York striker Jared Gordon. But, and here is the but, Green effectively said he does not like money.

"It's a prop to my outfit,” he said to the press conference when asked about the ostentatious boulder of cash next to him. “It's not really much, it's only 60 thousand, not much.
“And I say cash is trash, so it's not really anything. But for me it's a motivation.

“It let's me know what exactly I'm looking for, it let's me know that, this is what I'm aiming for every time I go to fight." Well, if he was looking for a strong reaction from Gordon, he did not find it. The 34-year-old’s mind was preoccupied, thinking only about Green and, perhaps, the big pile of green which will be waiting for him if he overcomes the 36-year-old.
However, his focus was diverted away from Green for one moment when long term rival Paddy ‘the Baddy’ Pimblett was mentioned. The Brit overcame Gordan, somewhat controversially, via a split decision in the co-main event of UFC 282. But when asked if he would ever want to face the Liverpool brawler in a rematch, Gordon was emphatic in his response.
“If it was worth it for me, but when I get past Bobby, that’s fighting backwards,” he said, firmly. “So, unless they give me some really big spot and it would put me in the spotlight obviously and it would grow my brand and grow me as a fighter.
“But at that point, it’s more of a risk for me fight-wise after I get through Bobby. But if they offer me something good and money, I might think about it.”
