Paddy Pimblett’s next opponent Jared Gordon believes the popular Liverpudlian was born a ‘quitter’. The pair square off in the co-main event of this weekend’s UFC 282 card, headlined by Jan Błachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev.
Ahead of Pimblett’s box office debut, Gordon has weighed in on his foe’s strengths and weaknesses. And the American is confident he has identified a key flaw in The Baddy’s game – his bottle.
“He goes for it. He hits hard, I guess. But so does everyone at this level. He makes a lot of mistakes, and he has a lot of holes. I just have to capitalize on it,” Gordon told SHAK MMA.
“I know he has some quit in him. He’s quit in other fights, and he can’t ever, ever, ever unlearn that. It’s just something he was born with. I’ve never quit, and I never will. You have to literally kill me to quit.”
Pimblett has been on an absolute tear since joining the UFC last year, quickly establishing himself as one of the biggest stars in the sport. The UFC lightweight has won all three of his fights under the promotional banner with a stoppage and performance of the night bonus in each.
Gordon, meanwhile, has been on a fine run of form himself, winning four of his last five including a victory over Pimblett’s former teammate Chris Fishgold. Following his split decision victory over Joe Solecki in October 2021, Gordon used his mic time to call out the Brit.

“My man Paddy has had my name in his mouth since his debut,” said Gordon. “Nothing (is) malicious. I like the guy. But, I beat his teammate Chris Fishgold and he wanted to get that one back. So come and get it. I’ll go two and 0 against the team, and I’ll be the cage warrior official champion.”
In response, Pimblett fired back: “He mentioned me in his post-fight interview, and he beat my former teammate, I would like to fight Jared Gordon. He beat [Chris Fishgold] so obviously, I would like to beat him and he’s on a three-fight win streak. His last loss was to [Charles] Oliveira.”
It has taken over a year to finally get the fight over the line with Pimblett being matched up with Rodrigo Vargas and Jordan Leavitt in the interim. But now, both men will have a chance to settle their score at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
