No-legged athlete wins first MMA fight after threat to ‘rip rival’s throat out’
Zion Clark has landed his first MMA victory against all odds after Eugene Murray at a Gladiator Challenge event, winning via unanimous decision on Saturday night.
The former college wrestler has a fascinating story, holding the Guinness world record for the fastest person to walk on his hands. He was born with a rare birth disorder that meant he was born without lower limbs.
And despite facing a fighter with a clear advantage, Clark made light work of Murray and handed him his fifth defeat. Some MMA fans were sceptical about throwing a no-legged fighter in the Octagon.

But they were left hailing the 25-year-old's performance, who used his wrestling to grapple Murray to the floor and making light work of his opponent. The crowd roared in delight after Clark was handed the victory, where friends and family were present at the San Diego venue.
Before a punch was even thrown, Clark was full of confidence and said: "I'm exceptional because I have a drive and I live by the mantra 'no excuses' and I push myself forward every day.
"This is the start of another professional career for me and I'm here to rip his throat out and put on a show for the crowd."
And he has gained a big fan in the form of Conor McGregor, who was blown away by the Ohio-born star. “Absolutely fascinating to hear about this man’s debut and now see it,” McGregor wrote on Twitter.
“Lighting entry on the low single. Wow! You should not connect to him in any shape or form. Frames only. Frame to strike.
"Fascinating! Congrats and so much respect to that man Zion Clark! MMA is the best sport!
“Can’t kick as he is grounded opponent. The only way to stop him is to develop [knockout] ending shots mid transitions in grappling.
"Very few on the planet possess this skill. And to [three-quarter] way downward punch a jab there is just no power. Look at opponents attempt before the shot. Wild!”
