McGregor deletes vile tweet about rival’s dad

It appears Conor McGregor is still bitter about his shattering loss against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, with the Irishman now choosing to lash out at another rival in a vile tweet.

After McGregor’s first round TKO loss to Poirier due to a broken leg, his longstanding rival Khabib Nurmagomdeov wrote the following tweet:

Good always defeats evil.
Very happy for @DustinPoirier I hope you will get the belt end of the year

More than two weeks since the tweet was posted, McGregor decided to respond by seemingly mocking the death of Nurmagomdeov’s father who died from Covid-19 related complications last year.

Nurmagomdeov was incredibly impacted by the loss of his father and many put his early retirement from MMA and UFC down to losing his dad.

McGregor is known for his controversial attacks on his from death threats, homophobic slurs and, more recently, making comments about Poirier’s wife before and immediately after his shattering defeat.

However, until now, the Irishman has held off on commenting on the death of Nurmagomdeov’s father, with many viewing his latest attack as crossing the line.

McGregor quickly deleted the tweet, but not before it was screenshotted and shared multiple times, prompting furious backlash online.

Did Conor actually tweet this? That is completely vile. My god. https://t.co/HhzmQJ37Ft

Conor McGregor has gone off the rails and this tweet that he deleted about Khabib’s father is just the last disgusting example https://t.co/GCDqKYC6df

I’m starting to think Conor McGregor is a little bit of a jerk

Some classless tweets by former double-champion, Conor McGregor. In sports, sportsmanship is one of the most critical skills that one learns at a young age growing up. The rivalry between McGregor and Nurmagomdeov has been going on for years, with the fighters exchanging shots over Twitter.

Their feud ramped up even more in the lead up to their fight at UFC 229 in 2018, which say Nurmagomdeov defeat McGregor by fourth round submission.

Despite three years passing, McGregor’s latest attack shows the bad blood between the pair still hasn’t dissipated.

His increasingly controversial shots against his rivals have seen many of his former fans turn on him.

The Irishman was branded classless after his recent fight with Poirier, following a week of taunting him about his wife, telling his opponent he was going to murder him and another angry outburst as he sat slumped against the cage with a broken leg.

But McGregor remained unapologetic about his actions, telling UFC fans: “You need people like me”.

McGregor appears determined to continue fighting despite now having lost three of his past four fights in the UFC.

He wants a fourth fight with Poirier as soon as his leg heals and will be granted that wish by UFC boss Dana White after Poirier has fought for the lightweight title.
