Masvidal says McGregor dodged fight as ‘he knew I’d beat the f*** out of him’
Jorge Masvidal has launched a foul-mouthed tirade at UFC rival Conor McGregor and boasted he will "beat the f**k out of him" if given the chance.
'The Notorious' is yet to return to the Octagon after suffering a broken leg in his defeat to Dustin Poirier last July, but has reportedly ramped up his rehab as a comeback date nears. And speculation has fluctuated wildly as to who his first opponent will be.
Among the many stars to call him out, Masvidal has been the most vociferous, and he and McGregor this week fired at each other in an unsavoury Twitter exchange. The American accused his rival of being on steroids, and he responded by labelling him "an absolute pigeon brain."
And now, 'Gamebred' has launched a verbal assault by claiming that McGregor is afraid to face him because of the potential damage to his reputation: "He wants to stay relevant so he takes shots, but he’s not going to fight," he told MMA Hour.
"The UFC has offered him this fight, as you and me both know this could be the biggest fight in UFC history, why would he not want to cash in on that paycheck? Because he knows I’m going to beat the f*** out of him."
Masvidal is himself on a losing streak after three failed attempts to take Kamara Usman's welterweight title, before losing to bitter rival Colby Covington in March. But he argued his direct style would be too much for the former two-weight UFC champion.

"I’m not a wrestler so if I beat him it really looks bad for his brand because I’m only going to beat him only way, f*****g in his face, standing up, punching him, knocking his ass out," he added. "It’s not going to be good for the Conor brand or his cheap ass whiskey."
Masvidal, 37, also accused McGregor, 33, of asking him to cut down from welterweight level to lightweight in order to avoid a clash. But despite the vicious words aimed his way, of late the Irish star hasn't looked like a man fretting over his next potential opponent.
Last week, he rocked up for the Monaco Grand Prix on a luxurious Lamborghini super yacht. Prior to that, he and fiancee Dee Devlin were seen sipping whiskey partying at the Cannes Film Festival with the likes of Kylie Minogue.
