Ex-UFC hero Darren Till eyed up for crunch 2024 title bout with Karate Combat
Former UFC hero Darren Till is being eyed for a 2024 title fight in Karate Combat, according to the organisation's president Asim Zaidi.
In February, the Liverpudlian walked away from the Octagon so he could pursue other interests away from the promotion. His last bout for UFC was all the way back in December 2022, when he lost to Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 282.
However, after recently causing a ruckus by confidently stating he would destroy any fighter in Karate Combat, current middleweight champion Dan Levine challenged the Brit to a bout. While they initially wanted Till to take on Levine at their upcoming event in Las Vegas on December 15, they are focussed on bringing Till on board for next year.

“Darren Till is one of the top strikers in the game and so is our middleweight champion Ross Levine, so we’re very interested in making that fight," Zaidi said, exclusively to Daily Star Sport. "We’d hoped to get the fight made for the December 15th event in Las Vegas but we couldn’t get a deal finalized in time.
"We’ll return to negotiations in 2024 and hopefully get that fight made early in the new year. In the meantime, Ross faces another UFC veteran – Sam Alvey – at Karate Combat 43 on December 15th, on the card headlined by the trilogy rubber match between Anthony Pettis and Benson Henderson.”

Till was called out by former Karate Combat president Adam Kovacs, who challenged him to fight anyone on the roster. Till replied on social media: "Sounds like your whole roster is full of bums and it will be an easy nights work whoever it is."
Karate Combat middleweight champion Ross Levine said: "Darren Till made some tweet about how he could demolish the entire Karate Combat roster in one night. I was like great, I’ll take care of that. So I asked Karate Combat to try and make that fight and again negotiations got underway but they couldn’t get a deal worked out in time for Vegas.
“But that’s a fight I’d really like. I think we match up amazingly and he's got crazy good striking skills. He’s only ever really had problems with guys that can wrestle. We’d have an all-striking fight and it would be great. And obviously I am happy to put my Karate Combat Middleweight Championship on the line for him as well. Immediate title shot, come and get it!"
Till has never fought in the growing Karate division. Meanwhile, Levine holds a 4-0 record ahead of his bout with Sam Alvey.
Karate Combat 43 takes place Friday, December 15th in Las Vegas, Nevada. UK fight fans can watch live and for free on the official Karate.com website.
