Conor McGregor ‘will show up in WWE’ as UFC star’s second switch edges closer
Conor McGregor has been backed to “show up” in WWE, making his second sports switch.
The Notorious has been linked with a “mega-money” contract in the wrestling show, which came days before losing his latest UFC bout to Dustin Poirier.
It would be the second time the Irishman has switched sports, having stepped into the boxing ring against Floyd Mayweather in 2017.
And Drew McIntyre, the two-time WWE champion from Scotland, believes that – but he would not welcome him with open arms.
Speaking to Sky Sports , the 35-year-old said: “No, I wouldn't want to give him a hug but he wouldn't want to give me a hug considering I keep calling him McTapper on social media.
“He's such a huge star, he knows how to entertain and is an incredible fighter as well.
“When the time is right, he will show up in WWE and it's going to be exciting.”
But McIntyre ruled himself out of a showdown with the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion.
“I know I give him some c*** but chances are we're probably not going to have a match because he's the size of my left calf!
“I will probably stick with [Tyson] Fury, he's a big guy and we're heavyweights, but it would be cool to have McGregor part of it.”
McGregor stepping into the WWE ring would see him follow in the path of Mayweather and Mike Tyson in switching one fighting discipline for another.
And fellow Irishman Sheamus has also backed The Notorious to make an appearance.

“He's teased [coming to WWE] a couple of times,” he said earlier this year.
“He's still staying active, he's a lad who's won belts, he's done a lot, so I think he's that type of person who's always trying to try his hand at something different.
“I think WWE would suit him down to the ground. You know, we've had a lot of people come in and out, [Floyd] Mayweather came in, a lot of celebrities have come in, a lot of sports people.
“So I don't think anyone would raise eyebrows if he came in to WWE. I don't think it's if, I think it's a matter of when to be honest.”
