Conor McGregor slams police chief’s response after woman and child stabbed
Conor McGregor is calling for action from the relevant authorities after a knife attack in Dublin has left five people injured, including three children. The stabbing outside of a city centre school on Thursday afternoon has left a five-year-old and an adult woman seriously hurt.
McGregor, 35, has been a vocal critic of the Irish Government this week since the sentencing of Jozef Puska for the murder of Irish schoolteacher Ashling Murphy. Saturday saw the five-time world champion sharing a widely recirculated court statement from Murphy’s boyfriend, Ryan Casey.
McGregor then criticised the response from Tánaiste Micheál Martin to the questions put forward by Casey. Comments from Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and the Government as a whole also came in for censure from the fighter on Wednesday.
However, Thursday’s stabbing has drawn the strongest reaction from McGregor. A series of posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, starts by addressing comments from Irish Garda commissioner Drew Harris condemning riots in the city.

“Innocent children ruthlessly stabbed by a mentally deranged non-national in Dublin, Ireland today,” McGregor posted. “Our chief of police had this to say on the riots in the aftermath.”
Harris described the setting fire to several vehicles near the scene by protestors as “disgraceful scenes.” He then added that “we have a complete lunatic, hooligan faction driven by far-right ideology and also then this disruptive tendency here and engaged then in serious violence.”
“Drew, not good enough,” McGregor’s post continued. “There is grave danger among us in Ireland that should never be here in the first place, and there has been zero action done to support the public in any way, shape or form with this frightening fact.

“NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Make change or make way. Ireland for the victory God bless those attacked today, we pray. Any update on the wellbeing of those stabbed today?” he later asked. “Absolutely horrific scenes all day, my stomach is churning.
“With no action being taken at all during these ever more frequent events, like literally zero action taken whatsoever, how do we expect an end to this? We need reform. WE NEED ACTION!”
“I don’t care about President Higgins’ statement. Or Varadkars statement. Or Mary Lou’s. Or Justice McEntee’s. Or Garda commissioner’s. Announce our plan of action!! What are we waiting for? Your statements of nothing are absolutely worthless to the solving of this issue. Take Action!! Fix this situation IMMEDIATELY!”
McGregor then shared a photo of a burning double-decker bus and a car in front of the Daniel O’Connell Monument on O’Connell Street Lower looking over the River Liffey. The post’s caption reads: “What would Daniel O’Connell say I wonder? What would our Irish leaders past say on the situation we face today? God bless Ireland.”
It is unclear whether the photograph was taken by McGregor himself. However, it does appear to be from Thursday night.
