‘This is unbelievable’: Star’s ugly meltdown
Russian superstar Daniil Medvedev suffered an ugly meltdown during his third round encounter with Serbia’s Filip Krajinovic on Saturday afternoon.
Medvedev comfortably claimed the opening two sets on Rod Laver Arena before Krajinovic staged a classy comeback to take the match to a fifth.
The No. 4 seed’s frustration became apparent in the fourth set when he repeatedly yelled towards the player’s box, prompting his coach Gilles Cervara to leave the venue.
According to reports, Medvedev was asking Cervara to “just let me play”, regularly indicting for the coach to be quiet.
“He said just before leaving that he’s sure I’m gonna win the match, but he’s gonna leave me alone to be more calm,” Medvedev said after the match.
After Krajinovic took control of the fourth set, Medvedev screamed, “Unbelievable, this is unbelievable.”
