The 2022 tennis season begins on New Year’s Day with the ATP Cup, as more Australian Open warm-up tournaments begin on Monday. Last season saw tennis legends like Novak Djokovic extend their dominance as he won three of the four Majors, while other top players like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams were forced out with injuries. A star was born when Emma Raducanu became the first qualifier in tennis history to win a Grand Slam, but Ash Barty managed to hold onto her world No 1 ranking with a Wimbledon title to boot despite the emergence of new talent.
Ahead of a new season on the ATP and WTA Tours, a number of reporters from across Express Sport have pulled together their predictions for 2022.
From more Grand Slam titles for Emma Raducanu to Novak Djokovic losing his world No 1 ranking, and even some retirement predictions, take a look at who our reporters have tipped to win the four Majors, enjoy a successful breakout, claim the top ranking, and suffer a disappointing season.
