Tennis legend Roger Federer has announced that he will return to TV screen in a YouTube show alongside comedian and actor Trevor Noah. The 20-time Grand Slam winner retired at last season’s Laver Cup amid emotional scenes – playing alongside Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic.
Federer will be appearing in a YouTube show titled ‘The Ride of a Lifetime’ alongside award-winning actor Noah, who has also hosted The Daily Show in America. The new show has the subtitle: “The grand train tour of Switzerland” and is released on March 30.
Federer announced the show on Instagram with the comment: “Ready for this, @trevornoah ? Coming very soon. @myswitzerland #ineedswitzerland #grandtraintour”. Federer has been busy since his retirement last year and recently launched a tennis show suited for clay courts titled ‘The Roger Pro Clay’ made by the On brand – which the tennis star is now in partnership with.
The tennis world has been missing the presence of Federer who won 103 ATP singles title and was world No.1 for a record 237 consecutive weeks. The Swiss star reportedly declined an invitation to play doubles at the Australian Open in January as tournament organisers tried to lure him out of retirement.
While Federer confirmed his retirement last year the Swiss star promised that he would never walk away completely, but was absent at the first Grand Slam of 2023. Talking about his retirement plans Federer previously said: “I just wanted to let the fans know I won’t be a ghost.
“I talked about Bjorn Borg, I don’t think he returned to Wimbledon for 25 years. I don’t think I’ll be that guy and I feel tennis has given me too much. I have been around the game for too long. Have fallen in love with too many things.

“I love seeing people again, and that’s kind of what I wanted to let the fans know that you’ll see me again. Not just never again. Now what it could be, in what capacity, I don’t know. So I still have to think about it a little bit but give myself time.”
Federer’s retirement has opened the door for Djokovic and Nadal to steal a march in the best ever debate with both of his rivals tied on 22 Grand Slam titles. The Swiss star recently gave his opinion on the debate and felt there was little to seperate the ‘Big Three’ in their prime.
