Nick Kyrgios gives sweary reaction after Carlos Alcaraz outburst breaks rules
Nick Kyrgios responded after Carlos Alcaraz was seen throwing his racket at the Canadian Open. The world No 1 crashed out to Tommy Paul in the quarter-final on Friday and was visibly frustrated as he broke the ATP conduct rules with his action.
Alcaraz’s 14-match winning streak finally came to an end as he was stunned by Paul in Toronto. The American had defeated him at the Canadian Open 12 months ago and was back again to oust the top seed 6-3 4-6 6-3.
The 20-year-old was visibly frustrated during the match, berating himself for his level. Tensions boiled over when he lost the first set, with Alcaraz throwing his racket on the court before walking over to it and picking it back up.
When fans on Twitter complained that Alcaraz didn’t receive a code violation despite breaking the rules, Kyrgios jumped to his defence and said it was good to see his human side. “Who the f**k cares….” the Australian said as he reposted a video of the incident.

“The dude is gonna be carrying the tennis load for the next decade.. good on him for showing he is human. Frustrated not playing up to standards. Also let’s start giving codes to umpires.”
While Alcaraz didn’t receive a mid-match code violation, he could still be fined after the match for throwing his racket. The official ATP rules state: “Players shall not violently, dangerously or with anger hit, kick or throw a racket or other equipment within the precincts of the tournament site.”
It means Alcaraz could be hit with a £394 ($500) penalty, with the rulebook also saying: “Violation of this section shall subject a player to a fine up to $500 for each violation. In addition, if such violation occurs during a match, the player shall be penalised in accordance with the Point Penalty Schedule.”

The world No 1 will now move on to Cincinnati, where he reached the quarter-final 12 months ago. As the top seed, he received a bye to the second round where he will face either John Isner or a qualifier.
As for Kyrgios, the 28-year-old will have to keep following along from home as he continues to battle a wrist injury. He has played just one match this year and has already pulled out of the upcoming Cincinnati Masters, US Open and Laver Cup.
