Mirra Andreeva’s staggering net worth as 16-year-old storms Wimbledon

Russian teen sensation Mirra Andreeva has already ensured she’ll roughly double her total career earnings with her run to the fourth round of Wimbledon with the 16-year-old closing in on breaking the £1million barrier. It was at the Madrid Open where Andreeva burst onto the scene on the WTA Tour where she recorded eye-catching results against top-20 seeds Beatriz Haddad Maia and Magda Linette before losing to Aryna Sabalenka.

More success followed at the French Open for the teenager, who only turned 16 in April earlier this year. In her first main draw of a Grand Slam, Andreeva managed to reach the third round, where she took the opening set against No 6 seed Coco Gauff before losing

That run made many stand up and take notice of the Russian starlet’s potential and she’s carried that form into Wimbledon – her first-ever tournament on grass. Snubbed on the wildcard list, Andreeva came through the three rounds of qualifiers which may have well helped her performances in the main draw.

That early experience on the grass has seemingly helped the teen hone her skills on the difficult surface. And she’s managed to go one better than her performance at Roland Garros after beating compatriot Anastasia Potapova to reach the second week of Wimbledon.

Her victory over Potapova now means Andreeva is guaranteed at least £207,000 in prize money from her run to the fourth round at Wimbledon. That’s around double what she managed to earn from her performances in Madrid and Paris.

The Madrid Open was Andreeva’s first big payday as she made £75,000 for reaching the round-of-16. That was bettered at the French Open, where she received roughly £123,000 in prize money.

But her Wimbledon journey isn’t over yet and her net worth could well continue to skyrocket the deeper she goes. Players on both the men’s and ladies’ singles draws receive £340,000 for reaching the quarter-finals and that massively jumps to £600,000 if they make the final four.

Nothing can be ruled out for Andreeva on current form and she could even call herself a millionaire at just 16 years of age if she reaches the Wimbledon final. This year’s tournament will see £1.175m given to the runner-up while £2.35m is on offer for the Wimbledon champion.

Even if Andreeva’s run at Wimbledon is ended by American Madison Keys on Monday, the Russian prodigy certainly won’t take long to break the £1m barrier. She’s now on the cusp of breaking into the world top 50 and will be expected to compete in the warm-up events ahead of the US Open.

There are two WTA 1000 events – in Montreal and Cincinnati – before the final slam is hosted at Flushing Meadows where even more money will be up for grabs for Andreeva.
