Casper Ruud will attempt to become Norway’s first male Grand Slam finalist on Friday after his late night spat with fellow Scandanavian Holger Rune.
According to the Danish teenager Ruud confronted him in the locker room after their fractious quarter final which the Norwegian won in four sets.
‘He just went straight up to me and shouted ‘JAAAAA!’ right up in my face’ Rune told Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet. ‘You can cheer on the court all you want and be happy. But that’s such bad style. Have some respect.’

Ruud’s father Christian denied that the incident had taken place, although the match had a lot of tension and it ended with the most cursory handshake. ‘When you’re on a big stage, it might be time to grow up a bit’, the 23-year-old Ruud told Norway’s VG.
He will perhaps never have a better chance of making the Roland Garros final than Friday, when he meets world number 23 Marin Cilic, although the 33 year-old Croatian has been in outstanding form.
The tournament winner is still expected to come from the second match. Rafael Nadal will attempt to move within one match of fourteen titles in what he has hinted could be his last French Open before retirement. He will play world number three Alex Zverev of Germany.
Andy Murray on Thursday made the last eight of the Surbiton Trophy on grass. He saw off Dutch lefthander Gijs Brouwer 7-6 7-6, while Jack Draper was upset by British number seven Ryan Peniston 6-7 7-5 6-4.
