Cam Norrie has set up a fourth-round meeting at the Italian Open against Novak Djokovic.
He fought off a spirited comeback from Hungary’s Marton Fucsovic on Sunday night to win the third-round clash 6-2, 7-6.
The match, which was held over from Saturday due to rain delays in Rome, looked to be heading for a straightforward conclusion as the British No 1 broke for a 3-1 lead then again in the eighth game and then went 5-1 up in the second set.
But Fucsovics, ranked 92 in the world, staged a revival, breaking twice and saving five match points in the process to level at 5-5 then force a tiebreak.
But Norrie, seeded 13, saw out the tiebreak 7-4 to advance.
Defending champion Djokovic beat Bulgarian 26th seed Grigor Dimitrov 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
