Retired tennis champion Ash Barty recently whipped her fans into a frenzy by hinting she was considering making a return to the game – and now Pam Shriver has questioned the timing of the post.
The Wimbledon champion, 27, posted a photo to Instagram capturing her tenderly cradling her three-month-old son Hayden while visiting a local tennis court.
Ash wore a fiery red polo shirt in the snap, accessorised with a Wimbledon baseball cap and carried a mini tennis racquet for her young son.
The post was captioned: ‘Back to red ball.
‘Coaches seemed happy enough. Spectator just enjoyed a snooze in the shade.’

The post, which has received hundreds of comments and almost 50,000 likes, sent the tennis world into a spin.
‘Comeback?!’ one excited fan questioned.
‘Can’t wait to see all the news headlines after this. ‘Barty set to return after having baby’,’ another said.
‘Come out of retirement please,’ a third person added and another chipped in: ‘We need you back on the tour.’
American doubles great Pam Shriver questioned the timing of Barty’s ctyptic Instagram post.
‘It’s interesting that she chose to post the video,’ Shriver is quoted on Tennis.com.
‘It’s kind of like, does that send a message, now that all these peers who were playing the tour at the same time as her are coming back?’
Barty’s post comes after a recent story in New Idea where an unnamed source said that the Aussie is eyeing a comeback at one of next year’s Grand Slams.

Shortly after giving birth, she spoke to News Corp and lifted the lid on what her life has been like as a new mother.
‘It’s the best thing I’ve ever done, and hardest thing,’ she said.
‘Hayden is amazing, I feel so very lucky. Garry and I are really just enjoying what is a pretty quiet time together at home as a little family.’
She said the bond she has formed with Hayden is ‘incredible’.
