Carlos Alcaraz prevailed in one of the longest matches in US Open history in the small hours on Thursday morning, toppling Jannik Sinner in a contest that went past 3am in New York. The Spaniard’s semi-final opponent, Frances Tiafoe, got exactly what he wanted by admitting that he wanted to face a tired and weary competitor in the final four.
