Zlatan Ibrahimovic was unhappy when Manchester United staff denied his two children the chance to enter an area reserved for playing staff, according to reports. The Sweden international moved to Old Trafford from Paris Saint-Germain back in the summer transfer window of 2016. And he was a big hit at the club, too, scoring 29 goals before departing for LA Galaxy.

Manchester United meant business back in 2016.

Having sacked Louis van Gaal, despite the Dutchman guiding them to the FA Cup trophy, they were excited about the Jose Mourinho era.

And one of Mourinho’s first signings was Ibrahimovic, who he’d previously worked with at Serie A giants Inter Milan.

It was a reunion that led to positive results on the pitch, with the Sweden international propelling the club to EFL Cup and Carabao Cup glory.

Yet he was allowed to leave for LA Galaxy in March 2018 after struggling with a long-term injury, with Mourinho deeming him past his best.

All in all, Ibrahimovic has admitted he enjoyed his time at United.

But The Athletic have now detailed the veteran’s anger at Red Devils staff members for the way they treated his two young children, Maximilian and Vincent.

It’s claimed that, one day, they came to see their dad at training and went running through a set of doors.

The area beyond those doors was for players only, though, and United staff sent them back outside to wait.

Ibrahimovic was unhappy at the ‘rigidity’ of this and it’s claimed that’s why he then sent the pair to join Manchester City’s academy instead.

Furthermore, the AC Milan striker also ‘found the club’s environment’ wanting having previously strutted his stuff for Juventus, both Milan clubs, Ajax and Barcelona.

Yet it didn’t seem to hamper his performances on the pitch, with Ibrahimovic certainly one of the best signings of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Meanwhile, speaking recently, the Swede insisted this current United side are better than the one he played in.

“I think it’s better, it looks better,” he said after AC Milan had lost to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the Europa League.

“But it doesn’t matter if you don’t win anything.

“I think it was better than mine, but I won trophies, that’s the big difference.”

Lee Grant revealed last year that United players loved Ibrahimovic, even talking about him long after his departure.

Grant said: “His period at the club had just come to an end but the lads would talk about him constantly.

“‘Do you remember when Zlatan did this?’

“‘Do you remember him getting on to such and such in training and he nearly made him cry?’

“‘Do you remember that thing he does, the kung-fu kick over his head?’

“‘Do you remember Zlatan scored that goal? Do you remember when he nutmegged that guy and absolutely took the p***?’

“I thought, ‘Oh my god, who is this Zlatan character?’ but that was what it was like all the time.”

United face off against Mourinho’s Tottenham tonight.

And they’ll be out to avoid a repeat of what happened earlier in the season, with Spurs winning 6-1 on a dramatic day at Old Trafford.
