Zlatan Ibrahimovic to miss AC Milan's Champions League clash with Liverpool
Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss AC Milan’s Champions League clash against Liverpool on Wednesday evening due to injury.
Jurgen Klopp’s side begin their campaign in Group B by hosting the Serie A club at Anfield.
Ibrahimovic, meanwhile, required knee surgery over the summer and made his return from injury on Sunday to score in AC Milan’s 2-0 victory over Lazio.
But the 39-year-old will not be travelling with AC Milan’s squad to Liverpool due to an Achilles injury.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League opener, Klopp praised Ibrahimovic for his impact across several leagues in Europe.
‘He’s a man for exceptional moments,’ said the Liverpool manager.
‘If he’s not playing, [Olivier] Giroud will play. All really good players.
‘Zlatan is one of the best players this game has ever seen. He knows that and he tells us.
‘I like that. There is still fuel in the tank and he squeezes every drop out. He’s capable of playing in every league and that is exceptional.’
