Young Man Utd trio catch Ten Hag’s eye and look set to get first-team chance

Changes are afoot at Manchester United amid another summer of turmoil but this time there is reason for positivity due to the top talents coming through the academy.

Erik ten Hag has walked into a dumpster fire with the likes of Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard all leaving. Cristiano Ronaldo has elevated the situation by handing in a transfer request just before the squad was supposed to jet off to Australia and Thailand for a pre-season tour.

Add in the multiple other players eyeing the exit door including Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Eric Bailly and Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Ten Hag has a problem. However, he might have already found three solutions at the club in the academy.

According to The Sun, the Dutchman has been wowed by three starlets Zidane Iqbal, Alejandro Garnacho and Hannibal Mejbri. In fact, the former has impressed Ten Hag so much he cannot believe that the 19-year-old has not been utilised more.

Ralf Rangnick handed Iqbal his debut in a dead rubber against Young Boys, coincidentally, in the Champions League. Garnacho and Mejbri have had slightly more success breaking into the first-team, making appearances towards the end of the season and regularly sitting on the bench soaking in the pressure.

But Ten Hag has a keen eye for talent and has been commended for his development of youngsters at both Bayern Munich II and Ajax. In Amsterdam, some of those to graduate from his school of thought include Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong and Ryan Gravenberch.

The trio have since gone on to make multi-million moves to Juventus, Barcelona and Bayern Munich respectively. There is also strong reports that De Jong could be on his way to Old Trafford.

There are high expectations for Mejbri, signed from Monaco, and Garnacho, who joined from Atletico Madrid. Youth coaches have been blown away by their credentials while United also won the Under-18 FA Cup – meaning there could be some top stars on the way.

And with Ten Hag acting as a mentor, the Red Devils might have the ideal manager to guide these talents and help them realise their potential.
