Young could snub dream Premier League return as Inter weigh up new contract
Inter Milan are considering offering Ashley Young a new deal if they wrap up the Serie A title this weekend.
And promoted Watford may now have to move quickly if they want to bring ex-trainee Young back to Vicarage Road on a free transfer.
Former Manchester United and England ace Young has enjoyed a glittering career.
The star has already won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League and Community Shield with United from 2011-2020.
He is on the verge of more glory as part of Antonio Conte's Inter league leaders – who are 11 points clear at the top with five games left.
They can clinch the trophy if they beat bottom club Crotone away on Saturday and nearest rivals Atalanta lose at Sassuolo on Sunday.
Young has made 56 appearances for Inter but his contract at the San Siro expires this summer after joining from Old Trafford in January 2020.
Young turns 36 in July and has stated his intention to return 'home' to his beloved Watford.
But Inter could give him a tough decision if they follow up noises about keeping him.
Young joined Watford's academy aged 10 in in 1995 before making his first team debut in 2003.
He scored 22 goals in 110 games for Watford before departing in a £9.6million move to Aston Villa in January 2007.
The star has been used as left-back by Conte after starring there in the 2018 World Cup with England when he made the team of the tournament.
But former attacking ace Young, who has 39 caps, believes he could still do a job as a No.10 too in the hole.
He returned to sting the Hornets' fanbase in 2017 when he scored twice for United at Vicarage Road and celebrated.
But the star has since admitted: “I know what started my career. It was Watford. I always say and I will always say it's my home."
