Brentford picked up a 2-0 win over Arsenal in their first top-flight outing for 74 years on Friday night – and one young Bees fan couldn't contain their delight in the stands.

Thomas Frank's newly-promoted side arrived back in the big time with a bang, earning a shock victory over the Gunners thanks to goals from Sergi Canos and Christian Norgaard.

It was a special night for the west London club, who generated an electric atmosphere at the Brentford Community Stadium.

And as they played out the closing stages of their win, a young Brentford supporter was spotted by Sky Sports cameras waving his arms in the air and sticking his middle fingers up.

His celebrations left pundit Jamie Carragher in hysterics on commentary, with the Liverpool legend saying before bursting into laughter: "Oh steady!"

Brentford fans couldn't have asked for a better start to their first ever Premier League campaign, producing a solid performance against one of the division's big guns before serenading their players with The Beatles' 'Hey Jude' at full time.

Bees boss Frank was delighted with all aspects of the evening and heaped praise on the club's supporters for getting them over the line.

"I think we top-performed but there must be a level above that," he told BBC Sport.

"The fans were absolutely amazing. That was more than a 10/10 performance in terms of atmosphere. Constant singing. Amazing.

"I know after the play-off final there were a lot of proud people, a lot of tears. It’s been a long journey.

"I thought we deserved the win. What I liked was how brave we were, pressing high and trying to play.

"If there was only one man of the match, it's the fans. I can’t name one of the team, they were all top."

Frank then added: "We didn’t have any Premier League experience – maybe 30 minutes. We believe if we have players with quality and the right character, then there’s no problems.

"Of course this is one game. We have to prove it many more times. But this was a good start. Tonight I will enjoy it and get a glass of red."
