Barcelona manager Xavi has labelled Marc-Andre ter Stegen the best goalkeeper in the world after he kept another fine sheet against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
A crucial first half stop from Antoine Griezmann was the pick of the saves as Ter Stegen helped his side their 10th 1-0 victory of the season.
The German keeper has started all 30 LaLiga matches for the runaway leaders, conceding just nine goals and keeping 23 clean sheets.
Sunday’s shutout saw him match Claudio Bravo’s Barcelona record for clean sheets in a single season and he now has his sights set on the LaLiga record held by Francisco Liano, who managed 26 in 1993/94.
And Xavi has bestowed the highest of praise on his keeper.

‘For me it was an advantage to know Marc. As a manager it was an advantage, I know how he thinks, his personality, he is very methodical, he’s a perfectionist.
‘He has worked a lot and he was aware that he had to improve too.’
‘Right now he is at an extraordinary level. I would say that, right now, he is the best goalkeeper in the world.
‘Even more so for us what we in terms of play. With the ball to feet in goal, he is perfect for us. Having Marc in goal makes me calm.’
